The perfect flower to start my paintings off in December! Named after Joel Poinsett, an amateur botanist who was born in Charleston, SC, this exquisite flowering plant and holiday favorite was first brought to SC from Mexico in 1825 by Mr. Poinsett, the first American ambassador to Mexico.
