Wednesday Night Worship - The Journey Series

Wednesday Worship
August 28, 2013

Journey Series #1
Mixed Media on Canvas Panel
Image 11x14"
Framed Gold Plein Air 16x20"
$425.00

Our St. Andrews Worship Retreat was in Black Mountain, NC the weekend prior,  and our theme for the weekend was our journey - where we are, where we've been, where we're going - and in the midst of it all, "being" or "attentive to the present moment". Sunday morning I got the feeling that I was to explore roads and paths for awhile in worship, and sure enough, that's been part of the theme in the Wednesday night services lately.  So - it's a new season and here we stand at the next part of the journey looking down the path.  While the way forward is clear as far as we can see, we still have no idea what's around the corner. The only way to find out is to walk it out and walk it through. The good news is that we don't walk alone.

Spring is Here!

From My Dock
11" x 14"
Acrylic

We're back to Daylight Savings Time - its the best time of the year weather in Charleston, SC - not too hot, not too cold, thankfully not humid.  This scene makes me want to escape to Edisto where I grew up.  My father gave me a piece of property on Edisto before he died, and while I have no house there and don't know when I will, I'm grateful to have a dock which is about one year old.  It's peaceful and quiet there whether the sun is shining or a storm is brewing.

Original Acrylic

$145

A new piece in The Evocative Landscape series.

Rest

Original Watercolor
3" x 5"
$35 Unframed
$75 Framed to 5" x 7"

As I continue to paint "The Evocative Landscape," it amazes me that a tiny image such as this creek scene, with minimal brushstrokes, paint and water can impart the sense of rest. I feel as though I'm on a raft, gliding down the creek, without a care in the world.

Still painting away getting ready for Spoleto - I'm really not painting palmettos for the show but these quick studies are great "warm-ups."

Palmetto Study I

5"x7"
Original Watercolor

Well, I'm back - busy getting ready for the 2008 Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Show, a 16- day juried art show of approximately 110 South Carolina Artists - trying to do a few small studies here and there, in between the artwork for the show and keeping fresh art in the gallery.

Marsh Ambiance

Original Watercolor 4" x 6"
The soft stillness of a Lowcountry marsh -
watery, elusive, a place of escape before the rush of the holidays.
A window of time to be thankful and to just be.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!
