Second Place Award Winner 2012
"Connector"
Oil by K.C. Collins
K.C.'s paintings have an ethereal quality about them - while the image is clear, she uses soft edges to create distance and mystery. As in life, we can usually see clearly what is directly in front of us, but the future is a bit obscure. I sense that we might want to focus on the journey itself, which may be more important than the destination.
We were really fortunate not to have rain today with the Memorial Day Concert which always draws a crowd. The Community Band was excellent, and in addition to "The Star Spangled Banner" and other patriotic music, the band played a superb medley of tunes from "The Wizard of Oz"!
We also had The Music Man with his keyboard in front of the fountain at the corner of King and Calhoun where the art show begins. So we had quite a festive and patriotic day!
