"Tristam's Starling at Masada"
Mixed Media
Gallery Wrap 14x11" and Ready to Hang
This painting is being donated to St. Andrews Mt. Pleasant's annual mission fundraiser, "Fishin' for a Mission" held 6:30 p.m. Friday night, June 12, 2015 at the Omar Shrine Convention Center at Patriots Point. It's a great event!
"Tristam's Starling at Masada" is an original mixed media artwork painted at a Wednesday night Worship Service at St. Andrews Mt. Pleasant. The inspiration for this piece was a photograph I took at Masada, Israel during a 2012 trip with Bishop Steve Wood and other members of St. Andrews. I was fascinated with this bird, Tristam’s starling (native to Israel, Jordan and other nearby middle eastern countries), as the bird just hopped right over to the public water fountain at the top of Masada and began drinking, reminding me of God’s provision with streams in the desert for all of His creatures. The rocky sand texture of the piece reflects the rocky and sandy terrain of Masada, terrain that I will forever remember as I chose to walk the rocky and somewhat slippery “Snake Path” down the mountain with other brave souls instead of riding back down in the cable car with the smart people.
