"Tuscan Landscape"
Acrylic

The Footlight Players are kicking off their 84th season with the musical comedy "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (remember the movie with Michael Kaine and Steve Martin...) which opens Friday night, August 7th, at the Footlight Players Theatre, 20 Queen Street in downtown Charleston. While you're there, enjoy the French Provincial furnishings together with the art exhibition in the lobby - the Charleston Artist Guild was given the opportunity to help create the "ambience", and several of us answered the artistic call, painting European landscapes, countryside scenes and such, all reminiscent of the French Riviera lifestyle.
Above is one of the paintings I have on display at 20 Queen Street. Painting it took me back to my first trip abroad with Artist William Jamison, his wife Ann and a lovely group of artists from South Carolina. We stayed in Tuscany with a home base of Volterra, a wonderful old hill town, dating back to the Etruscan era, and I must have taken thousands of photographs (which cost of lot of money because this was before digital cameras came into their own...). I had a great time going through my photographs and got so inspired - expect to see more Tuscany-inspired art from me in the upcoming weeks.
I'm looking forward to enjoying "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and hope you can make it, too - get your tickets soon - the production only runs through August 23rd.
