Day 1 - 2017 Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition

IT BEGINS!

Opening Day
in
Marion Square

What a wonderful sunny day to kick off the 2017 Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition!  So thankful that the deluge we experienced the first of the week is over - the artists were all smiles today with the sun out, crowds eager to see the artists and their art, and finally able to catch our breath after having to set up our tents Wednesday in the pouring rain and tornado-like winds.

Mayor John Tecklenburg
Presenter of 2017 Awards

Mayor John Tecklenburg presented the ribbons to the award-winning artists late this afternoon.  It's always a thrill to have Mayor Tecklenburg come because the first day of the Spoleto and Piccolo Spoleto Festivals must be one of the Mayor's busiest days of the year so we really appreciate that he finds time for us!

Best In Show/Mayor's Award!
Congratulations to Amelia Rose Smith
for
"Ready To Eat"

Above is Amelia Rose Smith, or "Rose" as we all call her, with Mayor Tecklenburg, her ribbon and Best In Show oil painting, "Ready To Eat".  We're so proud of Rose, who began showing at the Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Exhibition in the early 1980's (as she told the Mayor, when she was 4 years old...)!

Many thanks to our Art Show Co-Coordinators,
Victoria Platt Ellis and Lesley Johnson

Come join us in Marion Square - we'll be there for the next 16 days.  Monday-Thursday from 10-6pm and Friday-Sunday 10-5pm.  We can promise you lots of fine art!
