Blogging Israel 2012 - Day 2

Watercolor Journal
The Mud Gate - Tel Dan

In the pouring rain, we trudged up to Tel Dan and saw the Judge's Seat by the city gate, then we explored the excavations at the Tel. The most amazing part to me, however, was the Mud Gate, which dates circa 1750 BC - this is the gate through which Abraham would have entered when he went to Dan to rescue Lot.

Mind-stunning that the gate has survived, and well worth the mud all over me to be able to see it! This is a land brimming with ancient history. Everywhere I go I see paintings waiting to be painted.
