Church of the Nativity
Bethlehem
We spent a good part of the day in Bethlehem at the Church of the Nativity which is located on top of the cave where tradition claims Jesus was born. The arch shows a prior doorway but was partly blocked up years ago when this low doorway was created. It was important that the church not be desecrated by invaders riding into the sanctuary on horseback. We all have to bow down to get under this doorway.
