Blogging Israel 2012 - Day 8

Watercolor Journal
Masada

On Thursday, March 22, we left Jerusalem and headed to Qumran to view the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. From there we went on to Masada. All I can say is Masada is an experience and the history of how a band of Jewish people held out against a Roman siege of approximately 18 months is a fascinating episode in the history of the land of Israel. We rode up to the top in a cable car - the views are spectacular, especially with the ruins of Herod's palace on the northern tip.
